2006 Events
Aspen Community Foundation hosted several events last year, including:
- A convening to discuss immigration and its relation to affected populations,
employers, the law philanthropic assistance and the local community;
- A presentation with the Aspen Skiing Company Environmental Foundation
on The Colorado Climate Project: coming together to reduce our state’s
contribution and vulnerability to climate change.
- convening with The Manaus Fund of Aspen Community
Foundation directors to discuss local social entrepreneurship
- A reception for Spiritual Paths, a nonprofit that explores and
celebrates the spiritual in the human quest to integrate mind, body and spirit.
- A reception at Restaurant Six89 in Carbondale in August to reach out to
nearby residents who have philanthropic interests.
- A gathering at the home of Donor Advisor Jackie Merrill and Jay Hughes
to discuss “What drives your philanthropy?” Philanthropy
and Charity: Their Value and Their Differences.
- A convening for Roaring Fork Valley educators and school administrators
from local public and private schools to share ideas and discuss issues of
educational importance.
