PreCollegiate Program Scholarship Fund

John and Barbara Gold

The establishment of the PreCollegiate Program Scholarship Fund was inspired by initial funding from Barbara and John Gold. Diane and Bruce Halle and Kelli and Allen Questrom graciously provided additional start-up funding. The PreCollegiate Program Scholarship Fund of Aspen Community Foundation will help participants of the PreCollegiate Program in their pursuit of higher education. The scholarship will assist high school seniors in the Roaring Fork School District (Basalt, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs) and current college students from the Roaring Fork School District in financing their college educations. A collaboration among the Roaring Fork School District, the University of Colorado, Colorado Mountain College and Aspen Community Foundation, the PreCollegiate Program motivates and prepares academically qualified and under-represented students in the Roaring Fork School District to graduate from high school and be the first generation in their family to attend college. The PreCollegiate Program, started in 2003 and modeled after a similar program at the University of Colorado, received three years of start-up funding, ($63,000 per year) from Aspen Community Foundation. The Program is now part of the Roaring Fork School District.
