What is Aspen Community Foundation?

Aspen Community Foundation has been working since 1980 to improve the quality of life in our communities. Based in Aspen, the Community Foundation roots itself in communities throughout the Roaring Fork Valley – Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Silt, Rifle, Battlement Mesa, and Parachute.

Aspen Community Foundation directs a collection of funds that are created by individuals, families, nonprofits, businesses, and the Community Foundation itself for charitable purposes. Each year the Community Foundation awards millions of dollars in grants to nonprofits from these funds. In addition, the Community Foundation holds the endowment funds of nonprofits and the Aspen Community Foundation Endowment Fund.

The Community Foundation’s operations are covered entirely by fees from funds and by its Endowment Fund. All contributions, other than those into Aspen Community Foundation Endowment Funds, support grantmaking.
